Bodegas Dinastía Vivanco and the EASD (School of Arts and College of Design of La Rioja) Announces the First International Engraving and Wine Award Bodegas Dinastía Vivanco.

The award is born with the aim of supporting artists that use engraving as platform for contemporary creation, with the intention of joining art and wine, tradition and modernity, and with the goal of becoming, in successive editions, a referent of quality in the field of graphic edition.

Rules:

1. Participants: Participation open for graphic artists of legal age residing in the European Union with works that have not been previously presented to other contests.
2. Topic, technique and print run:
   1. The world of wine
   2. Technique: any traditional technique belonging to graphic arts (xylography, calcography, lithography or serigraphy) that can be combined among them or with the different new digital impression procedures.
   3. Print run. Bodegas Dinastía Vivanco reserves the possibility of doing a serial print run of some of the awarded engravings. For this reason, all the participants should use techniques that guarantees a print run of 200 copies. In the case that Bodegas Dinast?a Vivanco decides to make this print run, the author must be committed to submit and send the matrix and the rest of necessary materials for the print run. Dinast?a Vivanco defrays the edition with funding according to the difficulty of the technique used, reaching up a maximum of 9.000 euros. If agreed by both parts, the print run could be performed by the authors themselves.
3. Measures (sizes) and requirements for sending:
   1. None of the two dimensions of the paper (support of the engraving) can exceed a maximum size of 80 , and minimum of 25 centimetres.
   2. The work will be presented appropriately packed, protected and in a perfect state of cleanness and printing. Only in the case that 2c is fulfilled, that is to say, if it is decided to make a print run of the awarded engraving, the matrix and any other element necessary for the printing will be required.
   3. In no case framed engravings, sent with glass or similar will be accepted.
   4. It is recommended to send the work in a flat and rigid packaging, of the same size or larger than the engraving in such a way that it does not suffer any deformation or alteration during its transportation and manipulation. Such packaging could be used for the return of the work.
   5. Bodegas Dinast?a Vivanco and the EASD will show the utmost care in the handling and treatment of the work that is received,though they will not be responsible in any case for possible loses, or damages that could be produced during transportation, and will not admit any work that does not come properly protected and identified (see next rule about presentation and dates)
4. Presentation and dates:
   1. Each contestant can present a maximum of two original pieces of artwork.
   2. The sending of the engraving will include:
      1. The engraving conveniently packed (see 3d of these rules) with a motto (or pseudonym) written at the back.
      2. A closed envelope with the motto (or pseudonym) (the same motto written at the back of the engraving). This envelope will contain:
      3. Inscription form that should be printed and filled in (it is included at the end of this document and can also be downloaded from the following web sites: www.dinastiavivanco.com or www.easd-design.com).
      4. Copy of the identification document, residence permit or any other document that credits the European Union residency of the participant.
      5. Short resume related to the artistic creation of the author, and in particular to graphic work.
   3. The deadline for the reception of works is April 30th 2008.
   4. The artworks will be delivered to the secretary of the EASD or sent by mail to the following address:

5. Awards, exhibition and publication:
   1. There are two prizes: First prize: 3000 euros and second prize: 1500 euros The jury will choose the finalist (undefined number).
   2. The jury award will only be communicated to the winning authors.The list of awarded and selected artworks will appear on the web page.
   3. The jury will gather at the end of May (the final dates and composition of the jury will be announced on the either or both aformentioned web sites in May).The jury will be composed by professionals and specialists of acknowledged prestige in the field of engraving and visual arts, by professionals from the world of wine that consider the link with the wine culture, by representatives of Bodegas Dinast?a Vivanco and by EASD teachers.
   4. BODEGAS DINASTÍA VIVANCO will exhibit the awarded and selected works in the Temporal Exhibition hall of the Museum of Wine Culture Dinast?a Vivanco (Briones, La Rioja), with the aim of making the work of the authors public.The exhibition will be inaugurated on June coinciding with the award ceremony.
   5. BODEGAS DINASTÍA VIVANCO will issue a publication with the reproductions of the awarded and selected engravings.Three copies minimum will be sent to each of the selected authors (date not determined yet)
   6. The winning engravings will become part of the private collection of BODEGAS DINASTÍA VIVANCO.The authors of such engravings will submit all their reproduction and diffusion rights for their engravings to Bodegas Dinastía Vivanco. BODEGAS DINASTÍA VIVANCO reserves the option of using reproductions of the winning engravings, with reference to the author, if needed by the Bodegas and the Museum.
   7. The award presentation will take place in the auditorium of BODEGAS DINASTÍA VIVANCO.The authors of the first and second prize will be invited to this ceremony.
   8. The verdict of the jury will be irrevocable and unappealable. The prizes cannot be declared void.
6. Recovery of the artworks:
   1. The contestants can recover all the non awarded works (except if BODEGAS DINASTÍA VIVANCO reaches an acquisition agreement with certain authors)
   2. The period for collecting the artworks will be between October 14th and November 12th 2008, done either in person or by delivery company
   3. The artworks can be collected personally in the same place of reception (EASD) upon request by phone or e-mail, specifying date and time of collection.
   4. The authors that sent the artworks by delivery company and that want them back also by delivery company, should take care that the artwork is removed by a national or international delivery company at the expense and risk of the participant, who will assume the expenses derived.The chosen company will collect the artwork at the EASD in the period designated for collection return term (agreeing a fixed date and time of collection by telephone or e-mail to the EASD) telephone number (EASD): +34 941 240993 email: premiograbado(at)gmail.com
   5. After November 12th 2008, BODEGAS DINASTÍA VIVANCO and the EASD are not responsible for the conservation of the artworks that have not been collected, understanding that these artworks have been abandoned by the author and that the said artworks automatically become property, with free and unlimited usage, of BODEGAS DINASTÍA VIVANCO.

The presentation of this award implies full acceptance of the aforementioned rules and regulations.
